Things To Do in DC for March

March is when DC really starts coming out of hibernation and comes back to life!

Cherry Blossom Tree GIF

Cherry Blossoms

  • Peak bloom (March 23-26) - the best spot is the Tidal Basin and Haines Point, but get there early (like sunrise) to avoid all the crowds (link)

  • Bloomaroo (March 23, Wharf, 2-9pm, free) - super fun event with cherry-blossom-themed food / drinks, live music, and pink fireworks! (link)

  • Blossom Kite Festival (March 30, National Mall, free) - free performance and hundreds of people flying kites on the national mall (link)

St. Patrick’s Day

  • Ireland at the Wharf (March 16, Wharf, 12-6pm, free) - get ready for some bagpipers, live music, irish dancing, Guiness, and more! (link)

Embassy Events

  • La Grande Fete (March 23, 7-11pm, $40) - the French Embassy is hosting 20 French speaking countries from around the work for a massive party (think Morocco, France, Switzerland, Haiti, etc.). There’ll be food samples for each country, music, and dancing (link)

  • Embassy Chef Challenge (March 7, $150, 6pm) - realizing La Grande Fete is selling out quickly, I’m showcasing this other option - the Embassy Chef Challenge - where chefs from different embassies face off in “culinary diplomacy,” and you get to taste food and drinks from around the world!
